My Project

Children's enthusiasm for reading is genuinely heartening, and I am eager to foster that passion by securing a set of beginner decodable books. Many of my students, predominantly from a lower socioeconomic status, lack access to a diverse collection of books at home. I've also recognized a gap in my collection, particularly for early readers practicing phonics. My current books lean towards higher-level readers, leaving a void for those starting their reading journey.

Recognizing the pivotal role of comprehension in fostering a deep engagement with literacy, I aim to provide my students with stories that align with their interests.

This grant will enable me to build a collection of phonics decodable books tailored to their reading level, addressing the specific needs of emerging readers. Moreover, it will ensure they have access to chapter books, allowing them to experience the joy of progressing through literature alongside their peers. Your support will bridge educational gaps and instill a lasting love for reading in these young learners.
