Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students lack the necessary technology that so many others take for granted. If they are to achieve career status in today’s society, they need our help. So I have dedicated myself to provide hands-on learning and use up-to-date teaching tools as often as possible.
I teach at a Title I, elementary school where 100% of the students receive free lunch in a largely ELL populated area.
Often times, our families are not able to support the students in ways that are necessary. Many times both parents are working and unable to assist with learning at home. Although they face many challenges both in and out of school, my students are hard workers. They never give up. They love learning and are eager for a challenge.
My Project
Square Panda is a learning system that helps children learn to read using multisensory play. Designed for kids two and older, the playset blends physical and digital learning as it keeps kids entertained through age-appropriate games grounded in a research-based curriculum. Early readers play their way to reading fluency as they engage with physical smart letters that connect them to a library of learning games. Every play session guides children through the game as they explore the alphabet, letter sounds, discover rhymes, build vocabulary and more!
Research suggests that optimal learning happens when children use multiple senses, such as sight, sound, and touch.
The Square Panda Phonics Playset provides a multisensory tactile learning experience that combines 10 free iOS apps on the iPad with letters and visuals within the app. This library of diverse learning games is derived from a research-based curriculum that helps kids build early reading skills as they stay engaged through play.
