Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. There are about 60 students that I see every day, and we have so many diverse learners. We rotate students through out the day and every student has shown growth in the area of reading when they have been actively engaged in the reading process. We focus on strategies to help in the area of comprehension. My goal is that with the right tools given to my class, I will see growth in children making connections to the text that they're reading.
I am a firm believer that when students are actively engaged in learning, they will in fact learn!
My Project
My students come from various backgrounds and reading levels. I use differentiated instruction and reading centers to help build fluent readers. I have requested fluency and comprehension scripts to work with partners, close reading centers, and reading about history comprehension cards. I have also requested a phonemic awareness reading listening center for my extremely low readers and my speakers of another language readers. This center will help them develop reading skills necessary to pass third grade. I am extremely excited to have this project funded as it works with the diversity of readers I have in my classroom. Please help me.
