I work at Burgaw Elementary School. We are a title 1 school which means we serve a low income population. A large pecentage of our students recieve free or reduced lunch. We are a rural community and live in a low tax based county. It has been determined that phonics is an area of special need in our school. Students would benefit enormously from hands-on daily phonics activities that this kit offers. The kit offers plastic tiles and organizers, blends, sound boards, and even high frequency word tiles. It comes in a wonderful storage kit so that I can use it year after year. Phonics is the backbone for all languge arts skills which include reading, writing, and spelling. Phonics is also a very important component in the end of grade testing years after first grade. If my students recieve a good background and understanding in phonics they will be much more successful in years to come.
