My students need phonics and phonemic awareness games such as Vowel Owls and Superhero Phonics to have fun building their reading literacy and fluency.
My Kindergartners are so excited to learn each day that I can hardly keep up with their desires! They master the letter names and sounds quickly, trying to decipher the text as I read the big books to them. My children become engaged with the many varied and personal themes we study in class, such as making friends, the weather in our community, or how a plant grows from a seed. I am often asked how to say new vocabulary or how to spell a word as students write about their world.
The faster I can teach them the skills for reading and provide the information for learning, the sooner I facilitate their independence in reading and writing literacy about their experiences and the world around them.
My Project
My Kindergartners need fun and engaging activities to learn letter sounds, blending, and decoding to become life-long readers. I have some strategies to make learning stimulating in the classroom. Now, with Early Literacy Learning Academy and English Language Learners, I could use more variety and excitement in the phonics and phonemic awareness lessons I teach to my small groups of emerging readers.
These phonics games and activity sets are entertaining and motivating with kid-friendly tools, rewards and challenges, and topics interesting to young minds.
I have requested games that can be used with a small or large group, and that have difficulty levels which can be effective with a wide range of reading abilities. The games address entry level phonics, rhyming, word families, sentence building, and fluency through multiple game style platforms.
