My students need twist and turn Letter Word Builder and Beginning Sound Match-Ups to help support their reading. They also are in desperate need of crayons this second half of the year.
Kindergarten is critical for laying the foundations for success in learning. Kindergarten expectations have heightened over the years, especially in the area of reading! I am only in my fourth year of teaching kindergarten so I'm always looking for more reading resources to help my low-income kids.
I teach 29 kindergartners in a low-income school.
This is the biggest class I have ever taught. All of them come in at so many different levels of understanding. Since I am only in my fourth year of teaching, I lack enough resources to adequately reach and teach all of these students.
My Project
I'm envisioning that these resources will be used during our morning literacy rotations. I will have my aide help implement these tools along with me. Currently, we are working on CVC (consonant/vowel/consonant) and CVCe (consonant/vowel/consonant/silent e) words. The "Twist & Turn 3-Letter Builder" and "Twist & Turn 4-Letter Builder" will help with this area. I have several students that have not caught up on letters and sounds, that need extra interventions. The "See, Hear, & Learn Phonics Machine" will help these struggling students. I have a few kids that are still having trouble with their beginning sounds and the "Beginning Sounds Match-Ups" tool will help them. We are also working on phoneme manipulation and the "Change-A-Sound Flip Books" will greatly support this area. Lastly, in kindergarten we use crayons a lot and we are in dire need of new crayons!!
Resources for a classroom are extremely expensive.
I teach 29 students and I cannot financially do this alone! I want to help these students in every possible way. My goal is to have all of my students where they need to be in reading by the end of the year. These tools will help me achieve this goal.
