Right now my classroom consists of a variety of 5th-grade students who have varying degrees of learning disabilities. My students reading abilities range between first-grade and fourth-grade since phonemic awareness is the foundation of reading skills, I believe they would be able to learn more strategies to better understand reading. My students are eager to learn and prove that they are able to grow. However, we struggle with basic phonics. We are in need of some phonics H-E-L-P!
My students are enthusiastic, motivated and want to learn!
We just need the extra push with phonics. Having some hands-on phonics activities would engage the students in their learning process. These types of activities would make our learning even more meaningful and would provide the skills needs for my students to learn and grow!
The products that I have selected to be used in my classroom will provide my students with the tools needed to increase their phonics applications. Having these hands-on activities for my students to use in our center rotation will help increase their phonics skills. My students will gain the practice of being able to correctly sound of the words using the new skills that they will learn from these activities.
Phonics plays an important role in students being able to read on grade level.
Grade level texts will become much easier for my students to read once they are able to master the basic phonics levels. The more my students are exposed to basic phonics lessons, the easier the reading will become for them.
