Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are wonderful, energetic kindergarten through fifth grade students. The all of them are learning English as a second language. Additionally, all of my students come from low socio-economic backgrounds. They also have a learning disability in a specific academic area. Despite having learning disabilities, my students are high achieving, and they constantly meet their academic goals. They have been taught strategies to help them learn and acquire the knowledge they need to not only meet the goals and objectives written in their IEPs, but also meet and exceed district expectations.
Every student can learn, just not on the same day or in the same way - George Evans.
This is a belief I instill in my students everyday. They have the capability to learn; they just learn differently.
My Project
These phonics and reading resources will help me teach my students how to take their knowledge of letters and apply it to word decoding as they progress in their learning of the rules of phonics. My students will be able to build words using the instant centers, increase their vocabulary by working with the vocabulary cards, and increase their reading fluency by keeping them on track with the reading trackers.
Reading is the key to the future.
These resources will help my students increase their reading background knowledge. These resources will help my students build a solid foundation for their future academic success.
