This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I'm a teacher in a low-income, Title I school, and the kids need a lot. The students are faced with many challenges daily, either at home if they don't have food to eat or at school with daily challenges. I have a classroom full of loving and caring students!
My students have many challenges at home which I can not control, but I can control the situation at school.
The students grow so much in a year academically and socially. I am so excited to start this next part of the year with these wonderful students.
My Project
All of the phonics materials will be used to help my English Learners improve on alphabet knowledge and rhymes. These are skills that many of them are unable to produce with the English Language.
Learning a new language in a new classroom is scary.
I am giving these students time to be pulled into a small group and feel comfortable with other students who speak their native language.
These materials will be used in groups and the students can take home to practice with their own families. It has been a difficult year for many students. Fun and engaging materials are always fun to learn with. Lets make it exciting for my students!
