This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

The books in this project are a critical part of the Fundations Phonics Program. My eager kindergarten students are learning to read and write using this literacy program that exposes them to literature. These literature books will help them learn key components of literacy such as initial sounds, capitalization, and rhyming words.

The stories will give my students variety while learning the content of the Fundations.

The stories will expose the children to both fiction and non-fiction books. They will learn to sound out words, how to participate during a read-aloud. They will also learn how to identify the features of a book as well as components such as the characters, setting, and major events!
