My Students

I teach a wonderfully energetic and creative group of students. They are eager to learn and love to explore new things together.

We are a STEM magnet school located in a rural mountain community where we try to integrate STEM learning experiences into all subject areas; we strive to take as much of our learning as we are able to outside the walls of our building and into the natural environment and habitats around us.

We have several students who are in need of high levels of engagement and encouragement, which means that we are constantly coming up with new and exciting ways to teach them and keep them engaged and excited to learn. Our classrooms are also very boy-heavy, so we try to find many hands-on ways to teach and learn new and ongoing concepts.

My Project

Heggerty Phonemic Awareness Curriculum is a research based Intervention for students who struggle with reading foundational skills. This curriculum will enhance my students understanding of reading and support my struggling readers.

A child who has confidence in their reading ability can reach to the moon and beyond; the love of reading is the foundation to the love of learning.

I am eager to use new tools with my students for reading intervention to support them and give them confidence in their skills and abilities in the classroom and in remote learning.
