One motivation for students to stay focused on their assigned tasks is knowing that they will be rewarded. I reward my students with fun educational center games that they get to explore with the hands-on approach. They also learn how to get along and share with their peers.
My students are enrolled in a Mandarin immersion program.
Many of them do not speak Mandarin or even come from Chinese families. Yet, they enjoy learning Mandarin and are confident of their educational pursuit. This [program is designed to teach children both English and Mandarin, as well as other academic subjects, such as technology.
My Project
Since this is a Mandarin immersion program, students do not get as much exposure in phonics as their counterparts. I don't want them to miss out on it. Therefore, educational center games is one of my solutions. Students will be taught how to use the materials and their related lessons during instruction time. When they finished their assigned tasks early, they may quietly work on the games with their peers. The higher achieving student may be able to help his/her friend reach proficiency. They would also be informally monitored for their learning while playing the games.
People may say that one cannot pay a teacher enough to do her job.
I just think that seeing my students enjoy learning pays off my effort. I know these educational materials will help them find the interesting part of learning phonics and sight words. Then, they will smile and giggle, and we will all go home happy. Thank you for your time reading through this Donors Choose request.
