Pete The Cat Books Needed To Engage Literacy Through Art
My students need Pete the Cat Books to begin to learn to read, and apply literacy to the arts: Cavecat Pete, Valentines Day is Cool, and Rock On, Mom and Dad!
I am the special education teacher in an ICT Pre-K classroom during the day, and then after school I am the literacy/art teacher from grades kindergarten to fifth. All of my students love Pete the Cat books. I want to use these books to teach my students to read and respond to literature.
I teach in a Title One school and have children in my after school program that need help with literacy.
I integrate art and creativity with the literacy which truly engages them. They love when I use my Pete the Cat puppet as I read to them as well. I only own two Pete the Cat books, and have seen how well my students have responded to them. Pete the Cat is loved by all the grades I teach. It would really help if I had some Learn to Read "Pete the Cat" books, as well as Pete the Cat holiday ones. My students love the stories and love drawing pictures of Pete doing amazing things from the story. The best part is that Pete the Cat books always teach the students a lesson on doing the right thing in life. That's why he's such a favorite of mine as well.

In my class during the day, as well as my after school program, I have some students with learning disabilities. This is the time when I need to inspire them to learn the love of reading and respond by drawing and painting as well, to interpret their understanding of the book. Pete the Cat hooks them right away, and takes the fear out of learning to read. His books are always funny, yet meaningful.
These books will make a big difference to all of my students.
Staying after school can be boring to some students as it's a very long day. I walk in and bring fun and creativity and make them happy to still be in school. Pete the Cat is a wonderful series, and it would bring so much joy to all of my students. We thank you for all that you do.
