This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are a Title I school in Washington, D.C. We don't get much funding for the students and it can sometimes hinder our students from learning more. My students are anxious to learn new things and be exposed to new experiences.
All of my students are from low-income families and qualify for free lunch.
There are so many needs for these students and I just want to make sure they have the best chance at succeeding. My students come in every day eager to learn, and it is my hope to have a classroom set up to help them be their best. We are appreciative and grateful for all the help and support. Thank you!
My Project
My students have been asking and wanting a pet for our science class. Having pet frogs will help students with being responsible and having someone to check in on daily. The frogs will also be a job for the classroom with rotations. There is a unit that jumps in about the different cycles from butterflies, frogs, and seeds. Having a frog the students will have an immediate connection to the lesson with our pet. I will use the pet as a learning platform for hygiene and cleanliness. The pet will be used for multiple connection and engagement topics for the students in the class.
