Help me give my students the opportunity for personalized learning in the classroom. I have carefully selected the items in my cart, specifically the padded stools with backrests, to maximize student comfort and promote engaged, personalized learning.
My students come to class every day, full of life and ready to learn! We work together as a class to encourage a welcoming and safe environment that helps to encourage a strong classroom community. creating a safe and welcoming space for my students is important to me and through the use of flexible seating, I am able to help students feel as comfortable in our classroom as possible.
I plan and prepare lessons for my students that will stimulate their minds and encourage them to wonder about the world around them.
Working in Utah presents an interesting challenge to our classroom. School districts in Utah are among the most underfunded schools per student in the nation. Despite this, we are able to find fun and exciting ways to expand our horizons.
My Project
One of the biggest goals I have as an educator is to create a welcoming and comfortable learning environment for my students. I have worked hard over the last few years to introduce student choice into their seating and have seen such a shift in student engagement and performance. With the need to contact trace and socially distance during the COVID-19 pandemic, this was a procedure that had to change in my classroom. As students have come back into the classroom this year, I have made an effort to safely provide students the ability to choose their seats to promote a comfortable and emotionally safe environment. The last thing students need to be worried about when they come to school is being asked to sit in an uncomfortable desk for 8 hours.
I firmly believe that when students are comfortable in a space, they will be able to maximize their ability to learn.
Because of this belief, I am requesting classroom furniture items to better help my students. I have had flexible seating options in my room for a few years now and some of the options are worn out and beginning to break. Most of the items I have requested for my classroom will replace broken and worn out seats already in my classroom. The Bouncy Bands will replace the exercise bands that I previously had on my chairs and the tall stools will replace the stools that I currently have that are beginning to break. They will also provide an additional aspect of comfort due to the back rests. In addition to replacing broken items, these items will help to problem solve some of the problems that I didn't previously plan for, such as inflatable rings to help prevent the yoga balls from rolling all over.
