AVID is a class full of vibrant students who exhibit growth mindset and are ready to take on the world. Our AVID class is full of thinkers, creators, learners and inventors. We strive to develop a family unit as a class to enable risk takers who focus on college and career throughout their 4 years in the class which focuses on core subjects, including math and science.
Like a box of crayons, each student has their own dreams, college goals and a different view of the world, yet we are a family.
We learn together, fail together and progress through the challenges of rigorous classes together as a team. We choose creativity to inspire us and it also enables these students to learn in their best light
My Project
The opportunity for flex seating like stools, butterfly chairs, & cushions on the counters implements a creative environment to thrive in. Students get to CHOOSE creative seating to use.
A creative classroom of flexible seating that allows personalized learning in an optimum setting so students can grow, be challenged and feel at home.
I want my students to walk in and feel as though our class is their home away from home. As they are focusing on tutorials in math and science (STEM), they need to feel comfortable in their space. This allows the growth in their difficult subjects to happen when they feel comfortable taking risks in these subjects. Creating an environment that is calm, peaceful and flexible enables students to choose where they learn best! When they are working on angles in geometry, having the opportunity to use our wall space to measure and design projects gives them a sense of ownership. Giving students an area to thrive in where they have the opportunity to choose how to learn differentiates their education. Learning is personal and this flexible classroom will allow them to foster their education while building their foundation of academic success.
