This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

The students at my school are highly motivated, creative children. They will face many challenges this year, including increased independence, difficult content, and state testing. They will do all this while learning to be globally aware citizens.

Each student represents the idea that anyone who works hard can succeed.

Our school is a "family", and the students feel as though school is another home for them. They thrive when given positive attention and aim to please all adults. These children are critical thinkers who are the future of our community.

My Project

Our students are individuals. They learn in different ways, are interested in different topics, and are reading at different levels. We want to empower students to take ownership of their own education and find joy in reading and learning.

Our students need personal CD players and headphones so they can interact with different texts of interest on their level.

These CD players and headphones will allow teachers to differentiate learning for their students, access appropriate material to meet their needs and offer students audio texts that will interest them. With these CD players, teachers will be able to monitor student directed learning and help students to interact with different informational texts.
