My students are innovative project leaders! Our very diverse population of students, 40% which receive free or reduced rate lunch, deserve the opportunity to expand their learning experience with exposure to a variety of machines and materials. Help me provide a centralized Makerspace where the 1800 students in our school can collaborate on student-led projects. In this space, they will be able to design and create items that will be unique, and that they can call their own. This will give them a sense of ownership, expand their innovator’s mindset, and gain the employability skills they will need upon graduation.
My Project
Embroidery machines are not the same as they were 50 years ago. Having access to a Brother's Computerized Embroidery Machine will help my students gain skills for future occupations and entrepreneurship opportunities.
My goal is to create an engaging environment where students can learn to design and create personalized products using an embroidery machine for students and staff.
Students are eager to produce school spirit items such as shirts, hats, purses, socks, and backpacks. Creating these items in school will teach them how to open their own business, communicate with customers, and how to price a product line. When students use their minds to be creative, they are able to extend their knowledge in so many ways!
