This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I am lucky to have a wonderful class of learners this year. Just from the beginning, I can tell you that I've met some of the most kind-hearted, sweet students I've encountered thus far. Just being with them gets me excited in so many ways.

The thing that excites me most about my students is the fact that I know that these kids are the ones that will be the leaders in our future.

They are strong thinkers, they ask strong questions and they love being problem-solvers. Teaching gives me joy because I am the lucky one who gets to help explore ideas with these scholars. I can't wait to see them grow into amazing, valuable leaders.

My Project

I have amazing, wonderful children who love to learn together. However, while my students respect one another, it can be hard to feel like they have their own space when we sit together on the carpet! I want my students to know they have personal space while they learn. I want this classroom carpet because there are 30 designated spaces provided to ensure all of my students have their own spot when we learn together on the carpet.

Personal space allows children to both collaborate together and have time for self reflection.

This carpet has specific markers to show where each child will sit, making all students feel comfortable and knowing where to be when we learn together.
