This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work in a low-income district with some of the most kind-hearted students. Within my kindergarten classroom, there is a high energy and an eagerness to learn.
I have found that through constructive play, students are able to learn both social and academic skills to best succeed in the classroom.
My classroom is set up in a flowing rotation style, in which students are able to explore different centers that best reach their learning styles. Learning through fun is the ultimate goal in the classroom.
My Project
I would like to get my students chair pockets to allow them to keep their own private materials together in one place within the classroom. Without chair pockets, students will have to share materials and keep their personal belongings in their backpacks.
During the current school year, we have had community style tools, but I believe that the students may respect the materials more if they had their own as oppose to sharing with others.
A chair pocket will allow students to be able to keep all their belongings on them at one time. It will allow students to practice organization and upkeep.
