Personal Finance Skills for Life!

Help me give my students color toner. Grant funds were used several years ago to obtain a color printer, but it's out of ink and there's not enough money in our department budget to buy more.

My Students

My students want to learn how to better manage money! Approximately half of the students in our school receive free and reduced lunch and come from low socioeconomic backgrounds.

My students are eager to learn in order to improve their own lives and to enhance the world around them.

Students study goal setting and purchasing decision-making, understanding paychecks and taxes, budgeting and financial records, checkbooks and banking, saving and investing (stocks, bonds, index and mutual funds), credit and credit scores, and more! All students benefit from having completed the Personal Finance and Investment course.

My Project

Being able to print professional looking projects will give students pride in their work and the desire to create high quality projects by being able to print in color. As part of the curriculum, students study college expenses and student loans, including various repayment scenarios. Students examine their future college and career goals and prepare a budget based on their anticipated expenses. The finished product looks so much better in color!

It raises students self-esteem when they are proud of their work and increases the likelihood of their integrating what they've learned in the classroom into their "real-world" lives.

Additionally, I advise a student club, Future Business Leaders of America. Students in the club would use the printer to promote their activities.
