My students are part of the business education program at my school. They learn technology skills as well as financial literacy skills. I like to encourage them to study outside of the classroom because I believe that literacy is beneficial to all aspects of education.
We have a vibrant classroom environment where finances are discussed daily and technology is promoted through cross-curricular instruction.
It is a great achievement to have a student leave the classroom with the tools necessary to be a lifelong learner!
My Project
These supplies will be used in the Personal Finance classes in the Business Education program as part of the simulated workplace class store project where students are able to earn fictional money for their class bank accounts. Students have the opportunity to earn money for their bank accounts by participating in class, winning review games, etc. The thermal labels will be used in our class thermal label printer that helps with daily managerial tasks. Students learn how to budget and manage money as well as a checking account, while also gaining class incentives to continue participating regularly in class. They feel accomplished when they redeem their earnings for books, movies, stickers, candy, and other reward incentives. Students love this and it is a great way to keep them engaged.
