My Students

The mission of the Division of Youth Services is to enable youth to fulfill their needs in a responsible manner within the context of , and with respect for, the needs of the family and the community. These mandated services include assessment, care and treatment and education of all youth committed to its care.

ATC is a day treatment center located in Kansas City, Missouri which provides a variety of services for youth in need of treatment and related support systems.

ARC offers group based interaction, counseling, regular academic studies, HI-Set, vocational instruction, citizenship training and one on one guidance with staff.

My Project

ai am requesting materials that will help me teach my students life skills. I plan to have them read the book, Find Fish and discuss it. They will also use a journal as a writing tool to reflect upon ideas, discussions to enhance their understanding of the material that will be studied. After they are familiar with the book and the concept of journaling, I will read small sections of the book 7 Habits for Highly Effective Teens which is full of wisdom and common sense needed for students to navigate their lives. They will then journal responses to questions such as What are your good habits? What are your bad habits? Describe yourself a leader.

Using these books will help my students learn to communicate and interact positively with others.

They will enhance the life skills of all my students.
