It's the 21st century - and it's time to teach our kids in the way that they learn best, through technology!! Tablets in the classroom will give students the opportunity to develop skills necessary in society today!! We'll use them to research, create videos, video chat and who knows what else?!
Our students attend public school in a middle class suburban area.
Many students in our area do not have access to technology beyond the computers in our classrooms. Our school just opened this year, so funding was used to buy the 'big stuff', such as desks, tables, buildings, etc. Now we're filling in the holes with the 'little stuff!'
My Project
In Science, students are constantly doing projects and presentations. Why stop them at paper and pencil? We want to push them to the next dimension and to take their work digital. Tablets will enable them to master the skills of creating, posting, and sharing digital work with a technologically advanced audience. These devices will also allow students to network with other classrooms and scientists through video conferencing. Research will be personal, meaningful, and live! Additionally, access to the Internet via tablets will allow students to have immediate access to current information necessary to complete projects!
We live in a digital world and need to produce students who are able to contribute to and survive in this society!
Early access to technology will benefit them now, by making projects and presentations more exciting and engaging, but it will also benefit them as they enter the workforce in many years to come, armed with the skills they need to be 21st century workers!
