My dance classes are my favorite classes to teach because my students are motivated and they really seek to push themselves to the limit. They are a talented bunch of creative young people who inspire me every day.
They have an incredible ability to soak up choreography like a sponge and their group dynamic is very caring and compassionate.
My students are eager learners who are diverse culturally and socioeconomically.
Our school is a college preparatory high school in Southern California with a rigorous curriculum that is highly demanding. Students are expected to rise to the occasion academically despite social and financial obstacles that they may face. Our school is designated as a low socioeconomic status, and we are deemed a Title I school.
My Project
Our performing arts building was built a little over four years ago. We are truly grateful for the brand new facility. We know that many schools and performing arts programs go without updated facilities for decades. While we are so happy to have our facility, there are items that were overlooked in the final budgeting of the project. One item that was overlooked was a refrigerator for our lobby.
When having a performance of any sort, we typically like to be able to serve cold drinks and we also like to store perishables overnight for multiple-night runs of a show.
Our students will be able to help serve refreshments during our school performances. Each performing arts program at our high school has a minimum of 4 performances each year, so many students will be able to participate in helping to serve our community through their work in the lobby and with serving refreshments.
We would love to be able to have a fully functioning lobby for our own performing department and for guests who rent out the facility. We have recently started renting out our facility and we would like to be able to provide a fully-equipped lobby to make it easy for guests to store their perishables when they are renting out the performing arts center for several nights in a row.
Please consider donating to our project and helping us reach our goal of having a new refrigerator in our performing arts center lobby.
