Celebrating Black History Month

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are amazing musicians! I have seen their skills grow immensely in a short time and they continue to strive to be better and learn more. I know my students have many experiences in their lives that I cannot even imagine going through at such a young age but in my classroom, they experience the joy of music and the feeling of being successful every single week. Thank you so much for supporting my students in their musical growth!

My Project

My students love to perform but we lack comprehensive, meaningful performance materials. They are working so hard on learning all about music and are ready to show their creativity and skills to the school community and their families.

These materials will teach students relevant and meaningful songs that connect to content they are studying in other academic areas.

These performances will allow for academic and art connections. When students can make meaningful connections like this it deepens their learning.

The drums will provide students with an accessable instrument to use during their performances. We don't have any instruments that are appropriate for young students to use and be successful.
