Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My students like to work together and learn from each other and love being able to express themselves in their own way.
Many of them are being raised in low-income households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical.” From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My Project
We had previously purchased wobble chairs and they were too short. My students love using them but they are to low to the ground to reach there desk comfortably. Many students complain about having to sit in the hard standard classroom seats so I would like to have some other options for them.
These wobble chairs will increase there flexible seating options.
They will be able to work comfortably at there seats or around the classroom. It will help with our wobble chair rotations allowing more students to use them at once. When students are comfortable they are more engaged in the lessons and produce better quality assignments.
