My Students

There are some talented students in my junior high band, but unfortunately, we don't have much equipment for them to play on. A small bell set and some snare and bass drums from the '70s is what we have to work with. The community I teach in is a low income district, and many of my students do not pay percussion fees to help cover the cost of replacing old or damaged equipment. Providing my students with new and quality instruments and music has been really special to them, and they appreciate all I am able to do for them with what means we have.

My students are dying for the opportunity to play on something new.

My Project

I have some very talented students in 5th and 6th grade, yet all we have for percussion equipment is some bass and snare drums from the '70s and a cheap bell set. The drum that my students currently have doesn't have great sound quality, snare levers don't work, and the stands they sit on no longer adjust. These students are begging for some better instruments to let their creativity and love of music grow!

My students would appreciate a new snare drum and stick sets, but I just don't have the funds in my budget, nor do they in their pockets.
