My Students

I have the privilege of teaching at a *new* elementary school in Washington, D.C. for the 2018-19 school year. I will be shifting to a third-grade position, where we will be focused on our writing skills and STEM integration. I am excited to meet my new community and truly phenomenal students. I have no doubt my new class will come to school each morning full of energy, questions, and wonder.

My new school is a newly appointed STEM school and I am working with the STEM coordinator to amp up the classroom environment and bring our 3rd grade units to life.

My Project

In third grade, we have the privilege of studying our city, Washington, DC, but we also get to study how our country was set up as a democracy. Our unit is called People, Laws, and Democracy, and will give students the opportunity to study our country's beginnings.

My aim is to give my students an all encompassing experience because we can just walk down the street to monuments, and see some of the most important documents in our country's history.

Before going to see the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, I want to make sure my students have read about the story behind them. Having these class sets of books will ensure that we have some background knoweldge before showing up the a museum or monument.
