My Students

I teach 75 students English Languages Arts at a very high poverty school in Terrebonne Parish which is one of the most southern parishes in the state of Louisiana. There are extremely diverse socioeconomic/cultural population at our school. Seventy-five percent of our student population qualify for the free/reduced lunch program. Due to this fact, many students lack the basic materials to be successful in school. As a teacher, I need assistance with student supplies!

While students are challenged socioeconomically or culturally, they are more than capable of literacy mastery with a little help!

My Project

All of the requested materials are to assist student literacy in reading comprehension! Most items are needed on a daily bases and others are items that will help students achieve higher expectations in reading and writing beyond an 8th grade level.

My classroom is a high engaging/cooperative learning class where grouping students from various backgrounds and learning abilities work together to analyze stories, texts, and poetry.

They need paper, pens, post-its, posters, and markers to complete literacy strategies. Additionally, due to high absentee rates, a student printer is needed to copy or print typed work/assignments. Please show my students they DO matter!
