Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Central Park Zoo is a haven for students who live in Manhattan! Imagine a place where you can see penguins in the city, watch sea lions eat lunch, and feed goats right from your hand! My 2nd graders would love a chance to visit the Central Park Zoo and experience all the wonders that the zoo has to offer. I am asking for admission to the zoo for 30 students and 10 adult chaperones. My students at P.S. 115 in Washington Heights learn about the life cycles of animals during science class. A visit to the zoo is an excellent opportunity to see this firsthand, at a location right in Manhattan! Many of my students rarely leave their own neighborhood, but a visit to the zoo opens their eyes to the magic of Central Park and the beauty of the city beyond their school. Parent involvement is a key to success for my students. I'm asking for this donation because getting parents to experience field trips with their children is a way to build the academic bond, as well as have a good time hanging out with each other. Though the price for students is only $1, adults pay $6 each for admission. Many of my families struggle with paying for extras like field trips. I really want to be able to invite parents along so that they don't have to worry about the high cost. Thank you for your consideration!
