This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students walk into my classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I ask them, "Who is the best fourth/fifth grade class in the whole world?" and they reply, "We are!" I want them to know I believe in them, and they can do and achieve anything. Basic supplies are very difficult for my students to buy to keep the learning going.
I teach at a Title I school in Detroit Public Schools where one hundred percent of my students receive free breakfast, lunch, and a snack for dinner.
Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful.
My Project
The items listed are just key essential supplies that would allow my students to complete everyday work in the classroom. My current pencil sharpener is on three milk crates and one of my students accidentally knocked it off and it broke. We need a sturdy shelf to place the sharpener on, pencils and markers to use, and bins to store math supplies such as pencils, flash cards and manipulatives on the lower shelves.
This project will allow them to use pencils for daily work and keep them sharpened.
These key essential items to help my students or the classroom.
