My students need an electric pencil sharpener, lined notebook paper and some markers and pens for annotating as they read.
This project expired on June 18, 2012.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students have been using those little plastic pencil sharpeners that "eat" their pencils and take 10 minutes to fully sharpen. They keep asking if I "will ever get an electric pencil sharpener?" We have also run out of lined notebook paper and colorful markers/pens for annotating text.
My students are 9th-12th graders, at a small, urban, high poverty high school in Washington state.
Half of my students are ELL and really want to succeed. They are working hard to improve their English and learn about US History. They are funny, fun and curious, and I feel honored to be able to work with them.
As I mentioned above, we are in need of some very basic supplies which my school cannot provide. We want to be able to use our sharpened pencils, lined paper and some colorful markers to make reading certain text more interesting and to revise/edit each other's writing.
Unfortunately my school is not able to provide basic resources which my students need to be able to learn.
An electric pencil sharpener in particular will save time that students waste on trying to sharpen their pencils by hand.
