This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our students have many learning needs and struggles. I work hard to make our classroom a place for all learners to feel safe to be themselves and make mistakes from which to grow. I see it as one of my primary objectives to help my students become happy, healthy, productive members of society. They make my job a joy and motivate me to seek out the very best for them.

I want my students to be curious, ask questions, and be joyful, lifelong learners.

Part of my job is to motivate them by giving them the skills they will need when they enter the workforce. I seek supplies to help my students be successful in school with essentials such as pencils. Many of their parents work 2-3 jobs and cannot afford school supplies for their children.

My Project

We use pencils and paper in the classroom every day! We need a heavy duty pencil sharpener that will handle every day use and keep going for a very long time. This is the biggest classroom necessity and our pencil sharpener is not working correctly anymore. We also need regular pencils and jumbo pencils to write with.

Pencils are not just used for writing they are used for making sense of the world around us.

We use pencils in the classroom for writing, drawing, thinking, vocabulary, grammar, counting, graphing, poetry, projects, science, social studies, creating something new, and assessments. We can't learn without a pencil.
