My students are bright and motivated! They love to learn and are excited about incorporating more technology into our science class! My students are currently starting out the year learning all about science and the scientific method. They are very engaged in doing experiments, are thrilled at having their own personal science book to read and take notes in.
Many of my students lack access to the basics.
Pencils, paper, notebooks, index cards. If parents don't provide it, students do not have the availability to provide for themselves. I also can not afford to supply all 120 of my students with consumable materials. I had a set amount at the beginning of the year, and they are now gone.
My Project
My students go to one of the poorest districts in our country. Many students come on a daily basis and do not have the very basics necessary to be successful. I have tried many different methods to keep them supplied, and I always end up spending more money out of pocket than I can afford.
By supplying students daily with pencils and index cards when we are taking notes, it takes the stress off them to come prepared, and it gives back instructional time where students are looking to find something to write with.
Index cards will not only help them learn how to study but will provide them with the materials to successfully do so.
