The dual-language immersion model is based in a low-income community. This program offers students a rigorous academic program where they receive 50% English and 50% Spanish instruction and are expected to become bi-literate - to read, write and speak with the same high level of proficiency in both Spanish and English.
This model is based on equal respect for different languages as well as for the cultures of which those languages are a part.
Many students rely on the resources of the school to provide them comfort during the day.
My Project
Pencils are so important in my classroom and I am constantly in need of pencils in class and to send home. Many of my students don't have supplies at home to help them continue learning.
This project will allow me to send pencils home with informative laminated math and literacy anchor charts with visuals and examples.
The magnets will allow me to have them posted in their lockers and around the rooms. The multiple magnets and labels will let me differentiate each center for each student.
Anchor charts are super helpful in the classroom and I have learned that families appreciate having the information on the anchor charts at home to help their children continue their education at home. The laminated material will also be very durable and can be used for long periods of time.
