Pencils And A Sharpener Please!
My students need pencils and a good sharpener. Pencils aren't made the way they used to be...they break and don't sharpen right anymore.
Pencils are not made the way they used to be. They break often and don't sharpen properly. Kids are often frustrated because their pencil points break constantly!
My students are mostly economically disadvantaged.
The ones who are able bring in their own pencils, and often share them with the rest. However, I don't feel like this is fair. I want to offer my kids as many pencils as they want/need; rather than me saying, "where is the pencil I just gave you this morning?"
Seems simple, pencils and a sharpener! But in a classroom a good pencil and a good sharpener is like a hammer and level to a carpenter. Good work often starts with a nice good pencil point. It's a shame that my students can't get as many pencils as they need and our sharpeners we have just "eat up" our pencils!
We would love to have an abundant supply of pencils in our room.
It would be wonderful to have a mug full of beautiful sharpened pencils, for anyone at anytime. I believe their work would look neater which would enforce self pride in their products...something many of my students are taught or modeled at home!
