Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students come to school wanting to learn more each day. They love setting goals for themselves throughout the school year. Our school is a Title I school located in a low-socioeconomic area. Some of the students at our school are experiencing homelessness. Many of their parents work very hard to provide as much as they can. Sometimes work can be hard to find in our area. Still, they do their best to provide the needs of their children.

My students enjoy learning.

They come to school with smiles on their faces ready to take on each day's lessons. They love working together with their classmates. Even through their struggles, they want to learn. I want my students to be able to get the best education, no matter where they live or who they are.

My Project

After several good years, my current pencil sharpener is no longer working. This last week has been a struggle for us with pencils. When we have our sharpened pencils at the beginning of each week, we don't have the " I don't have a pencil issue". We need a new pencil sharpener to help us get back on track.

Each week we start the week with 5 newly sharpened pencils and as we approach the end of the school year, many of my students are running out of pencils.

Having extra pencils available allows us all to have our five pencils to start a successful week!
