My Students

My students are great kids, but one of the things that they have lacked is work on their handwriting. It becomes difficult to read and then grade their work and that causes misunderstandings and frustration especially on testing days. So, I have decided to use the Getty-Dubay method to help them learn their writing skills again since they are not really taught beyond the 3rd grade any more. This is a remediation not a mastery program. However, to help them with their physical gripping of their pencil/pen, I was hoping to purchase some 30 packs of Zaner-Bloser Pencil Grips to help them feel better about writing and help to reverse any bad habits of holding a pencil/pen.

My Project

Many students up to 8th grade have developed poor writing habits which slows down and distorts their hand writing. With these grips, I hope to rehabilitate my students writing and help improve it for the future. By combining these grips with the writing program of Getty-Dubay, I hope to improve my students hand writing skills, allow them to feel more comfortable and there fore increase their speed with writing, and then allow this to translate into better and more confident writing and note taking skills that will follow them all the way through High School and into college and then as future adults.
