My Students

My students are wonderful kids who have great attendance and who live in a below-average socioeconomic area in our town. A few of our students do not speak English, Spanish or other commonly foreign languages to our area. This makes communication and learning very difficult for these students. I love my students because despite the huge diversity between them, for the most part, they work as a team and respect each other.

Computers are a way of life for most Americans, and for my students, too.

They love what all middle school students love, technology and its social benefits. Every chance I get to reward them, I try to do so with some sort of free "technology" time.

My Project

Today, students are required to spend multiple hours a day on some type of technology. It may be to practice a skill on a program that is designed to their individual needs, or it may be to create a class project. Times have definitely changed in the education world, and students' fascination to the world around them can be explored thanks to technology. Unfortunately, often times, students are not doing exactly what they should be doing while navigating on their devices. Not that they are doing anything terribly bad, but they just aren't doing what was asked of them which results in being off task which does not allow optimal learning.

The software, Pro Vision, would allow me to monitor the students' internet usage by seeing each student's computer screen simultaneously while teaching.

This would increase student's time on task and learning because Pro Vision would allow me to hold them accountable for their work habits and learning at the same time.
