My students need 30 exercise peddlers to warm-up in the small space we have available for physical education to increase their heart rate and get them ready for fun activities.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have highly energetic middle school students who are enthusiastic about physical education and learning in general. Since opening day, our school has been growing in our physical education academics by expanding our curriculum in traditional and nontraditional sports.
We plan on using desk cycles as student warm-ups and also as a physical activity tool that will enhance students academic achievement and decrease undesired behavior.
Lack of space is usually topic of conversation at our school. Therefore, we find creative ways to integrate as much physical activity as possible. My students come from diverse and low socioeconomic backgrounds. Over 95% of my students receive free or reduced price meals.
Our charter school lacks physical space and is located at the heart of many community conflicts. Our school is a gold ribbon school which means that, as a school, we are trying to implement healthier food for children as well as give them choices for healthier lifestyles.
My Project
Students will begin their physical education lesson by working out with their peddlers. They will continue to warm-up and work out with peddlers throughout instruction in order to allow their cardiovascular system to engage at a higher level and to perform more challenging activities.
At the end of the lesson, students will gather once again and cool down on their peddlers, just as they did with the warm-up, and we will discuss topics concerning the topics learned and give closure to our lesson.
Peddlers will allow us for a quick warm-up and perfect cool-down and will minimize undesired behavior during instruction.
