We are a preschool - fifth grade International Baccalaureate Magnet World School that is committed to developing inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
Our school is a microcosm of the world; diverse in language, race and ethnicity, socio-economic status, and ability.
About 38% of our students receive ELL services and 71% qualify for free or reduced rate lunch. We believe our diversity is one of our many strengths in this ever changing world!
My Project
Please help support our early learners (preschool through second grade) develop healthy habits for a lifetime of wellness and happiness. The practice of Yoga in school gives children a practice and routine that integrates physical, mental and emotional development.
Learning and practicing Yoga at an early age supports the development of personal awareness while students learn specific strategies to maintain focus and manage emotions and impulses.
These strategies become applicable in the context of school and the greater world. Studies show that the practice of Yoga over time contributes to greater health, self-mastery and well-being. The yoga mats and balls will support the practice of Yoga in our K-2 movement classes. This is a weekly specialist class in which our early learners participated. These Yoga tools will help us find our peaceful place each time we meet, while ensuring that all students have a mat for use and the teacher the tools to guide the weekly practice!!
