Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the best job in the school and students LOVE coming to PE!! They are excited to learn new skills to help keep them healthy and they can't wait to start using the equipment for that day's lesson. We work hard...everyday!
I teach Kindergarten through 5th grade students in a very high needs school.
They are excited to learn new things and I love to see how their knowledge has grown throughout the school year! Our school is a close-knit community, with a caring staff that puts students first and a student body that is eager to please.
My Project
With the addition of the playground balls, basketballs and beanbags, ALL students will be practicing their manipulative skills, such as dribbling, shooting, passing, throwing, catching, sliding and rolling at the same time. Pretending to play with a ball while you wait your turn just doesn't cut it! And being active in my class means students return to their classrooms ready to focus on their classroom-based instruction. The hoop hauler/cart will help keep our storage room organized and also allow students to choose the correct length jump rope because they will be able to be grouped accordingly and student accessible.
A great PE class means students are more likely to continue an active lifestyle as they get older!
With your help, this PE class will be more meaningful to the students because they know they won't have to wait to use a ball. My students love to play basketball and will improve their ball handling skills this year and beyond. Who knows? One of my students might just be the next middle, high school, or college star!
