Help me give my students PE equipment! I am trying to get the basic necessities for our school since we lost all of ours in the fire. Kids need to move to learn and this will help us!
The students at Paradise Elementary are amazing, resilient young people. Most of them come from lower socioeconomic backgrounds and many of them have faced some type of trauma in their lives already. Despite all that, they are so happy to come to school.
On Thursday, November 8th that all changed.
School had just started, when we were suddenly notified that we needed to evacuate due to a rapidly approaching fire that started in a nearby town. Everyone thought we would evacuate and see each other the next day for our annual Veteran’s Day assembly. We were wrong!
By evening we knew that our town had been wiped out by this catastrophic event and most of our students and teachers had lost their homes. It was literally gone! I am writing this Donors Choose Project on behalf of my students, as our school had been destroyed as well. Not a classroom left standing, all books and supplies gone!
We have secured buildings and will be reunited with one another on December 3rd. It would be great if the kids could return to school with some PE/recess equipment to play with.
My Project
Physical exercise is so beneficial for kids. These basketballs, soccer balls, jump ropes and more will allow students to burn off energy, increase their muscle strength and eye-hand coordination, play cooperatively with others, and just have fun.
Please help us replace our lost p.e.
equipment so these kids can get moving, playing, and then learning once we get back into the classroom.
We lost all we had in the Camp Fire, so I'm hoping this project will help us provide some equipment when we return to school. PE is important and we need some equipment to help us do it.
