PE Equipment to Increase Mental Health

Help me give my students headphones and PE equipment such as an indoor hockey set, toss and catch sets, and dodgeballs, that will help them improve their mental well-being and social skills while having fun.

My Students

I teach 25 third graders at a Title I school in Utah. These students love exercising and participating in PE. They love getting out once a week to have some sort of physical activity, which they need for their little brains that are developing daily. Unfortunately, they don’t have much PE equipment to learn different games; we only have basketballs and soccer balls. With this project, my students will have a chance at being physically active and learning social skills to work and play with others.

My Project

No doubt my students and their families are facing challenges during this pandemic. My third grade students are very active during recess and PE. They need a variety of choices in equipment to help keep them stay active and healthy during this emotional time. These PE equipment, including indoor hockey sets, dodgeballs, toss and catch sets, and other items, will allow my students to learn social skills and cooperation skills.

Because students cannot share equipment while maintaining social distance, we are making every effort to give them access to sports and activities that can be more personalized yet engaging operation skills to enhance their emotional skills during this pandemic.

Enhancing the online learning experience for the students, headphones will allow them to be engaged online during this hard time. The headphones allow them to be quietly engaged in the classroom with online learning experiences.
