PE Equipment for the Gym

Help me give my students equipment for the gym, adjustable basketball hoops that can work for students of any height, and golf putters for a mini golf course.

My Students

I teach a lower elementary school PE class, K-3rd. My goals as a PE teacher are to create a fun atmosphere, burn off some excess student energy, and encourage my students to get excited about being active. I don't do the same activity more than one day in a row, or even within the week. Monday and Friday are fun days where we do obstacle courses, parachute, or play games like dodgeball. Tuesday and Thursday are skill days where we focus on throwing, catching, or kicking skills. Wednesdays are wiggle days where we do aerobics or health before playing a quick game.

I have great students who look forward to coming to PE each day.

Several parents have told me that they look forward to hearing their child tell them about the fun activity they did with coach in PE today. Many of my students struggle with being able to control their emotions and actions. They focus on the sign above the gym door "Coach's House". They try to remember not to disrespect Coach's House with their actions. Being safe, being respectful, and doing their best are how they show respect to Coach's House.

My Project

Our gym is an old building from the 1930's that has been repeatedly renovated for different age groups. Our school is now a lower elementary school, Kindergarten through third grade. We have 7 hoops around 1 basketball court, but the hoops are all at a height for middle school to high school aged students. With the adjustable basketball hoops, we could remove most of the old hoops and adjust it for the grade that is working in the gym at the time.

Every Monday and Friday we do a fun activity that encourages participation and fun.

The golf putters will be used for a special fun activity where students will be playing miniature golf either in the gym or outside.
