Teacher Professional Development: I need a 3d pen and plastic filament to gain Professional Development and join the Maker Educational Movement. <profdevpilot>
Teaching gifted students is challenging work. It is important to stay on the forefront of technology so that you can enrich their current curriculum. The maker movement is transforming education. A trained "Maker Teacher" is able to transform students into global problem solvers.
I have taught for 10 years and try to learn and grow daily.
While teaching, I have obtained my masters, mentor other teachers regularly, and work in the summers for an educational consulting company. I believe in Professional Growth opportunities and try to constantly live up to the expectations I have of my students: To be lifelong learners.
My Project
I teach gifted students in a rural high needs community. I'm always wanting to grow professionally and I feel that the Maker Movement is the right fit for my students. The movement encourages all the students to work hands-on through collaboration as well as enriches engineering skills, however I cannot teach what I do not know. I need the resources to learn from before I can begin passing any of these desired skills onto my students. I am an eager, quick learner and would grasp the opportunity to learn 3D design and curriculum to benefit my students' education. The ability to design prototypes and models would benefit me, but also allow my students to explore curricular concepts through 3D models.
I am requesting 3D design materials including a 3D pen and filament for the pen.
These resources will allow me to follow state mandated curriculum through the use of "Maker Projects." I will personally improve my designing skills (which benefit our graphic design curriculum) as well as engineering skills which would elevate our STEM (science, technology, engineering mathematics) lessons.
