My Students

My students come to school each day ready for new challenges. Our school community thrives in fine arts. Students are extremely creative and are focused on having a growth mindset. When asked what they want to do when they are older, responses include, "help others", "solve pollution problems", and "learn more".

My students are already changing our world.

Many of my students are learning English, gifted and talented, and have different learning styles. They have developed a love for reading and writing as they delve into inspiring stories.

My Project

I am requesting 3 of the top professional reading resources to gain more insight on implementing attainable reading goals for students. The Fountas and Pinnell Literacy Continuum clearly spells out what readers can expect throughout a variety of levels of texts. The upcoming Reading Conferences book by Jennifer Serrevallo will provide me and my team detailed notes about using Reading Conferences to help move readers throughout a band of text.

Having access to these resources will allow our team to purposefully set reading goals that are appropriate for each student on their level.

Students need the opportunity to practice reading strategies and make meaning of what they are reading. Giving us teachers a go to set of resources will allow us to zone in and help students master the art of comprehension.
