Help me give my students flash drives to store their digital presentations and save research articles as well as current magazines to use for their research.
Most students in my classroom are seniors studying Odyssey Visions of the Future. Our school has a diverse population of students who are African American, Asian, Caucasian, Hispanic, Laotian, and Ukrainian. We have a stark contrast in the economic status of our student body with equal parts middle class and those needing government assistance. Even though the financial need is very different (with several who qualify for free or reduced-rate lunches), instead of a multitude of social or behavioral issues, the data shows our students are strong in academics.
Visions of the Future is a PBL course where students choose an area of technology to conduct an independent research study all semester.
The items for this project will help the students meet the research requirements.
My Project
Seniors will use the flash drives and magazines to help their research and prepare four presentations: technology first (how it started), major advancements and impact (timeline discoveries to modern-day), problems and solutions with the technology, and cutting edge plans for the future.
One semester, two students tried to rally their classmates to agree whether Xbox or Playstation had the best console.
Other technology studies have been: cell phones, laptops, music technology: records to digital, medical technology, and social media.
The goal of the course is to teach college-level research skills, enhance public speaking skills, and develop digital projects on district-issued MacBooks and Apple software.
