Help me give my students a chance to create persuasive presentations by using colored paper and printing their papers and presenting them to the principal and others to insure that they have the greatest impact.
Our school is comprised of a diverse group of students from various backgrounds and ethnicities. This is their first year at the middle school and they come from four different elementary buildings. They don’t know each other very well and we encourage them through many team building exercises and project learning activities to build friendships. Students on our team are excited to be a part of the middle school and anxious to be a part of the learning process in their new environment. They are nervous to explore spending time with new teachers, but are encouraged to do their best and are challenged to try hard.
Writing workshop isn't new for students, but can be dull if students don't connect to the topic and/or aren't given the opportunity to write about things that they feel passionate about.
My Project
Project based learning will be utilized within Writing Workshop as students research specific things that they are passionate about that they would like to change. Once they have gone through the many steps in the writing process and gained knowledge and skills by working and investigating they will create a presentation that can be given about their topic.
They will use the colored paper and felt tip markers to create as much flair as possible to impact that reader and be as persuasive as possible.
Their visual will match the intensity of their words throughout the project as they collaborate with their peers and learn about their topic.
